Interfaith Harmony Week in Bokaro: Students Paint and Write Messages of Peace and Brotherhood

During World Interfaith Harmony Week in March 2026, around 110 students in Bokaro, Jharkhand, came together for painting and poetry competitions focused on unity, peace and brotherhood — a low-key but meaningful neighbourhood event that brought children of different faiths under one roof.
March 2026. At the Swang Dakshini Panchayat Bhavan in Bokaro, children from Hindu, Muslim, Christian and other backgrounds participated in an interfaith harmony programme organised by local peace groups and URI East India. Through art and poetry, they expressed simple yet powerful ideas: “One Earth, One Family”, “Respect All, Divide None”, and “Peace Begins with Us”.
The event was deliberately kept small and community-focused. No politicians, no heavy messaging — just kids painting colourful posters, writing short poems and receiving encouragement medals. Community leaders from different faiths spoke briefly about the importance of dialogue and mutual respect in everyday life.
Parents who attended said the programme gave their children a safe space to celebrate diversity. Many took the artworks home as reminders that friendship doesn’t need to be complicated.
In a region that has seen its share of challenges, this quiet gathering of young voices offered hope that the next generation is already learning to build bridges.
